Webheath Project Wardrobe

Welcome to the first of our case studies based on a project we have recently completed. We thought it would be useful to share some information about the bespoke furniture we create, along with a little insight into the details and style. As is always the case with a bespoke furniture project, this wardrobe is completely unique and will never be repeated in its exact style. That said, if you like the design, please do get in touch so we can chat about how we could create something similar in your space.

About the project

These Webheath wardrobes were created in collaboration with Jennifer Suzanne Interiors. The brief was to develop a bespoke Japandi style design in silver grey finished real oak. Before starting on a project like this, we always take the time to see the space where it will be located. We discuss the customer’s requirements with them, and together we come up with a detailed brief that will allow us to make their vision a reality.

In this instance, the design needed to fit with Jennifer Suzanne’s vision for the room. We therefore worked closely together to ensure that the wardrobe’s design would fully complement the rest of the room. The customer needed a very large wardrobe providing floor-to-ceiling storage space stretching the full length of one wall. The enormous doors needed to be easy to operate. Lighting inside the wardrobe was a must-have, along with plenty of hanging space and shelving that could be easily changed in accordance with their future requirements.

Webheath Wardrobe Features

With a clear brief in mind, we set about designing a wardrobe that would both fulfil all of the customer’s requirements and fit with Jennifer Suzanne’s vision for the room. The features of the wardrobe are:

  • Large, soft-close sliding doors: Using a soft-close feature on the large doors allows them to open and close smoothly. This makes it easier for the client to use the wardrobe and additionally, it prevents noise around the rest of the house when the wardrobe is used.
  • Dovetailed solid oak drawers: Drawers hidden inside the wardrobe itself offer a neater finish for the entire room, since there is no need for additional storage furniture to sit elsewhere. This allowed Jennifer Suzanne to fully focus on the interior aesthetic without having to concern herself with fitting in practical furniture.
  • Integral LED strip lighting: Classy strip lighting offers a visually appealing way to ensure that the interior of the wardrobe is light as well as spacious.
  • Hanging space
  • Adjustable shelving: There’s nothing more annoying than finding that your shelving requirements have changed and you need to have additional work done on your bespoke furniture to keep its functionality. That’s why the shelving system in this bespoke Merrick wardrobe can be easily adjusted to create different compartment sizes according to your requirements.
  • Custom made brass handles

The Process

The wardrobe was designed, crafted and fitted by Black Pear Bespoke on time and on budget. After an initial meeting with the project interior designer, we produced concept visuals that were included in the design proposal. The customer immediately loved the look of the design.

We then produced accurate design drawings and a material sample to ensure that the client knew exactly how their wardrobes would look and function. Once these were approved, the cabinetry was crafted in our Worcester workshop.

We then arranged to install the furniture over the course of a week while the customer was away on holiday. When they returned, they were over the moon with the transformation and couldn’t have been happier with the finished article.
