With more than 20 years of design and making experience, our aim is to create unique design-driven furniture, and interior installations that are of the highest quality and beautifully detailed.
Projects
The following is just a small selection of our more recent projects which hopefully provide a flavour of what we can do for you.
Contemporary fitted furniture
This stylish new-build property contains several pieces that were designed and made in collaboration with Saal Interior Design. These included lounge display shelving, TV room cabinetry, and bathroom furniture. All in stained oak, this contemporary fitted furniture incorporated lighting and functional storage elements required by the homeowners.
Traditional fitted furniture
This period property required beautifully designed storage and display furniture in key areas that were to be in-keeping with the style of the house. This included cabinetry in the dining room with cupboard space, wine storage and a wine cooler, also a large linen cupboard to store bedding etc. (pictured) The cabinetry was hand-painted in Farrow & Ball paints externally, with internals in walnut, ash and cedar wood.
Freestanding Cabinet
This piece was designed in collaboration with John Evans Interiors for a lounge area and was created to house the client’s audio equipment. The modern design featured crown cut veneers with a curved handle detail with inlay stainless steel. The base was patinated steel and the interior was given a pop of colour with a lacquered finish to the shelves.
Freestanding Wardrobe
This large wardrobe was built in sections to allow it to be removed if the customer were to move house. It is made in three sections, with contrasting timbers used in each; walnut and sycamore. The external doors have a lacquered finish and feature inset polished stainless steel handles. Also designed in collaboration with John Evans Interiors.
Chef’s Kitchen
This kitchen for a period home was developed in collaboration with Cream & Black Interior Design with a professional chef in mind. Beautiful, sturdy and functional shaker-style cabinetry is combined with stainless steel worktops, appliances and shelving. Plenty of easily-accessible storage has been included to give a space that is as easy to use as it is attractive.
Media Cabinet
Designed as a beautiful but functional piece for a lounge/TV room, this piece is made in solid oak with brass detailing. Planishing has been used to add texture to the brass elements. The oak has been finished with a tinted hardwax oil to enhance the natural qualities of the grain.

Black Pear Bespoke furniture is all handmade to order and can be crafted in a range of materials, finishes and sizes to your specific needs.
Locus Coffee Table
A unique, modernist coffee table in walnut wood, steel and etched brass. This piece is all about enhancing the beauty of these wonderful materials. The walnut has an oiled finish to enhance the grain and the steel has a patinated finish to give a raw, industrial feel. The inlaid brass has been acid etched with a wood grain pattern to provide a focal point and contrasting texture to the piece.
Locus Side Table
This piece has been designed as a partner to the Locus coffee table and has a complimentary aesthetic. The materials used are European oak, etched brass and patinated steel.
Bespoke Inlays
Both the Locus tables feature a handmade etched brass plate that is let into the surface. These can either be supplied in a wood grain pattern or they can be customised to create a truly unique piece that is of particular importance to the owner. In the past we have included maps of important places or images taken from memorable photos. The designs can also feature names, dates and messages.
Bespoke stools
Hand made from solid oak or beech wood, our kitchen stools come in many variations to suit the style of your home. High-quality and perfectly proportioned, they feature gently curved seats, brass footrails and will give many years of use.
Lineal Desk & Shelving
This beautiful desk design and complimentry modular shelving system can be made in many configurations and extended as required. The aesthetic has a modern industrial feel that is softened with the use of our signature materials of beautifully grained oak and satin brass.
Brass Accessories
These are both functional and sculptural items to be used in the home. They are all predominantly made from solid brass, some with etched details and have simple geometric forms typical of our work. They include a jewellery stand (brass and leather), incense burner and candle holder.
Commissions
We work hard to make commissioning bespoke furniture a rewarding and pleasurable experience for you, from initial meeting to final installation. Commissions are collaborative in nature, starting with a phone call, or a face-to-face meeting to discuss your specific needs, ideas and budget. If it’s a fitted piece we will visit your home to check details and take dimensions. Then proposal drawings will be produced alongside a detailed quote for the project. Once the design and budget is agreed, and the making process has begun we will keep you updated on the progress of your furniture throughout the crafting of your bespoke piece.

Wonderful quality and attention to detail
Working with Nick Munn at Black Pear Bespoke has been a pleasure. We are in the process of refurbishing our period property and asked Nick to design some key items of built in cabinetry for our home. Nick produced wonderful, well presented designs that were exactly the style that we were looking for, and perfectly met the brief that we had discussed. Our project was well managed from beginning to end, with excellent communication and a quick hassle-free installation process. About Nick
Nick started his career journey after completing a degree in industrial design at Loughborough University and studying furniture design at the prestigious Rycotewood College in Oxfordshire. He then went on to work for some of the best furniture makers and interior design companies in the country developing custom-made designs for both contemporary and period projects in the UK and abroad. These projects have been as diverse as luxury spas and hotels to minimalist apartments, period home refurbishments and even a palace in the Middle East!
As Nick says, ”After more than 20 years in the industry, I started Black Pear Bespoke with the aim of creating fantastic furniture in the City I have lived in for the past 18 years. Quality is at the heart of everything I make, that and of course good design. I am inspired by beautiful, sustainable materials used simply: oak, ash and walnut teamed with brass, steel and hand-painted finishes. It’s a process I love and I’m aiming to inspire potential customers with the same vision.”
