Ethos
Nick Munn founded Black Pear Bespoke in 2023 to bring his vision of high-quality, sustainable furniture to life, offering discerning clients an alternative to the standard ‘off-the-shelf’ pieces found on the high street. Drawing on his extensive experience in bespoke furniture, Nick recognised that many so-called luxury brands rely heavily on materials such as chipboard and plastic laminates, which, while initially economical, often deteriorate within just a few years — doors sag, panels chip, and surfaces delaminate.
At Black Pear Bespoke, we are uncompromising in our choice of materials. We use real, enduring materials — solid woods, carefully selected veneers, and sustainably sourced metals — combined with glass and brass, all chosen not only for their beauty but for their longevity and environmental responsibility. Our finishes are equally considered: we favour linseed oil-based wood treatments that are hard-wearing, water-resistant, and easy to maintain, avoiding polyurethane varnishes which can chip or discolour over time.
Every material and finish is time-tested, ensuring that our furniture does more than simply last — it evolves, developing character and depth so that each piece becomes more beautiful with age, remaining a functional and elegant centrepiece in your home for decades.
